Caledonia Swing, an Atlanta/North Georgia-based band performing a unique style of Celtic music with a jazzy twist, was founded in 2004 by its principals Marie Dunkle (violin, cello, mandolin), Margie Swint (vocals, guitar) and Ken Shearer (guitar). With a variety of guest musicians, Caledonia Swing performed their eclectic musical mix at venues throughout Georgia and the Carolinas. The band's inspirations were traditional Celtic music, Celtic Swing, 30's/40's American classics, the sweet sounds of Scotland, and gypsy jazz greats Django Rheinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. From elegant to toe-tapping, Caledonia Swing has entertained audiences for over 12 years.
Band principals Marie Dunkle and Margie Swint currently perform as a duo and with talented guest musicians at festivals, coffeehouses, wineries, weddings and private parties. Musical repertoire is customized for the occasion and can range from Celtic to 40's swing, folk, popular and classical. Principals and all musicians offered are seasoned professionals.
